Just to say that Roy has some upcoming gigs in NZ with a "Peddlers re-visited" theme and he will be joined by Paul Johnston and Bruce kerr! Part of the set list will be numbers from "Live in Amsterdam". Needless to say, I wish I could be there!

My best wishes to all Roy/Peddlers fans everywhere.

Roy Phillips and The Peddlers 'Revisited' - Auckland

Enjoy a special evening with Roy Phillips and The Peddlers ‘Revisited’ at the SKYCITY Theatre, May 25th 2009.

For the first time since the Peddlers disbanded in the mid-70’s, Roy Phillips will recreate the magical sounds of this legendary group with his golden gravel toned voice and perform their timeless classic hits including ‘Girlie’, ‘Birth’, ‘On A Clear Day’, ‘That’s Life’, ‘Time After Time’, ‘Last Train To Clarksville’, ‘What Now My Love’, ‘Who Do I Turn To’, ‘Georgia’ and more.

Roy has sold more than 45 million records during his professional career and will perform his Peddler’s hits and some self penned songs from his latest album ‘Dancing with Shadows’ for one night only.

Roy's career took off in London in the early sixties at R.G.M Sound in Holloway Road - the brilliant Joe Meeks' studio. A popular group called The Outlaws provided backing for visiting artists. When their guitarist pulled out of a gig, Roy took his place and found himself playing guitar for Jerry Lee Lewis at the Gaumont Cinema in Leicester.

Over the next year or so he played with The Dowland Brothers backing artists like Little Richard, Gene Vincent, Billy Fury, Johnny Leyton, The Tornadoes, Freddy Starr, Bobby Vee and the Everly Brothers.

The first Peddlers performance was at the CIS buildings in Manchester. Jimmy Saville was the master of ceremonies and also on the bill that night were Roy Orbison, Wayne Fontana, Freddy and the Dreamers, Herman's Hermits and The Hollies. They were hard acts to follow.

The Peddlers did seasons at Eden Roc in Miami, the Flamingo Hotel and Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. During this time they worked with some jazz greats. Lena Horne, Nina Simone, Lou Rawls, Jimmy Duranty, Louis Prima, Sergio Mendez, Sarah Vaughn, Pearl Bailey, Louis Belson, Timi Yuro and a whole lot more. But it was Frank Sinatra who introduced The Peddlers to a world audience.

The Peddlers recorded numerous hit singles and albums for CBS including ‘Freewheelers’, ‘Three in a Cell’ and ‘Birthday’; and enjoyed a hit recording project for 'Philips' with the Royal Philharmonic orchestra. Suite London - Roy's first major writing concept is now a collector’s album. From this point song writing became Roy's main future. He has had over 200 songs published with a lot more to come.
